Beth Spieles, Environmental Information Officer,
has been elected to the executive board of the Minnesota
Association for Environmental Education (MAEE) for a two-year
term beginning in 2002. The mission of MAEE is to promote a responsible
citizenry through environmental education and action. The non-profit
organization strives to be a unifying voice for environmental
education in Minnesota, a voice that does not rely on the availability
of state funds. Board members represent state agencies, environmental
learning centers, museums/aquaria, formal education institutions,
non-profit organizations, and industry. In her role as the Southwest
Minnesota Representative, Spieles organizes networking events,
contributes to a quarterly newsletter, and assists the organization
in the pursuit of grant support.
