from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelors Degree in Humanities
in 1984. She then received her Masters Degree from the University
of Minnesota in English with writing emphasis in 1991. She has
taught creative writing in Brussels, where she lived for four
years, and also at The Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis, MN
since 2000. In the fall of 2004, Jorie won a Loose-Leaf Poetry
Series contest for her poem At
the Beginning of the War: Thinking of Two Paintings by Goya.
During her time at the Center, Jorie worked on
her memoir, For You There Are No Words. She hopes to preserve
the time and place where her ancestors lived and by doing so contribute
to the larger history of Southwestern Minnesota.
