The Center for Rural and Regional Studies is proud to announce
the Ethel and Joseph Amato, SR. Memorial and Perryman-Visser
Award scholarships available to SMSU students. These scholarships
may be used to fund tuition and fees at SMSU.
A student applying for this scholarship should submit a 500-word
essay stating his/her interests, major area of study, and any
other pertinent information. The essay should be submitted to
Anthony Amato, Center for Rural and Regional Studies, ST 203,
Southwest Minnesota State University by Friday, April 6th, 2007.
The award will be made by the end of spring semester.
The Perryman-Visser Award (approximately $300) is made annually
to the SMSU student who produces the best original research
paper in SMSU class on any area of rural and regional studies.
Students who are interested are invited to submit their work.
The paper must have been submitted as part of an SMSU course
requirement sometime during the twelve months prior to the Friday
before Spring Commencement (May 12, 2006 to May 11, 2007).
For consideration, an applicant should submit a finished copy
of the paper and a short cover letter by the Friday before Spring
Commencement (May 12, 2007). The paper and the letter should
be submitted to Anthony Amato, Center for Rural and Regional
Studies, ST 203, Southwest Minnesota State University. The award
will be made during the weeks following Commencement.
