Outreach Activities

Janet Timmerman was the featured keynote speaker for the Brown County Museum's opening show of the Jane Dixon-LaFramboise dance blanket, May 28, 2005.

Janet Timmerman presented "Rock in the River: Joseph LaFramboise in the Minnesota River Fur Trade" for the Clean Up the River Environment (CURE) Spring Observation Week, Upper Sioux Agency State Park near Granite Falls, MN, May 21, 2005.

Joseph Amato and Janet Timmerman hosted an historical bus tour of Lac qui Parle and Chippewa Counties for the SMSU Senior College. Includes stops at Camp Release, Java River, historic village at Montevideo, Red River Ox Cart Trails, and the Lac qui Parle Mission, May 4, 2005.

Janet Timmerman participated in a panel on Women in Agriculture for Pioneer Public Television to comment on a Cynthia Vinetti documentary "Minnesota Women of Agriculture," Appleton, MN, March 29, 2005.

Janet Timmerman was the keynote speaker at the School for Environmental Science's Rural Conference in Apple Valley, MN, February 17, 2005. She also led two breakout sessions on Agricultural Tiling and Drainage and participated in a panel of Rural educators.

Janet Timmerman attended the premier opening of the Twin Cities Public Television documentary "Minnesota: A History of the Land," February, 13, 2005. In 2001 Janet worked with TPT on a segment for the program.

The Center co-sponsored the Rivers of History Outreach Project. Two events were held, one in Montevideo, MN, and the other in Minneapolis, MN with presenters John Anfinson and Anthony Amato.

"Lewis and Clark and the Western World," interviews with Joseph Amato, Tony Amato, and Janet Timmerman, August 20, 2004. South Dakota Public Broadcasting explored the world of Lewis and Clark and the long-term effects of the Corps of Discovery in a one-hour documentary.
