CRRS hosted a conference based on the book A Place Called Home. Among the speakers of the conference were: Richard O. Davies, John Miller, Linda Hasselstom, David Pichaske, and Joseph Amato.

The conference was held on Thursday, October 2, 2003 in Charter Hall 217 on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University. Over 120 people attended, representing over 20 different towns
