This is an introduction to principles and concepts of chemistry including measurement, inorganic nomenclature and formulas, reaction stoichiometry, descriptive chemistry of the elements, atomic theory, chemical bonding, and the mole and pH concepts.

 

CHEM  111L General Chemistry I Laboratory (2 credits) LAB
A laboratory course to accompany Chem 111 General Chemistry I. Laboratory activities include the introduction to a variety of physical and chemical techniques used in biology and chemistry laboratories.

 

CHEM  112 General Chemistry II (3 credits) LLB
This course further explores principles and concepts of chemistry including equilibrium and reaction kinetics, and includes an introduction to organic chemistry.

 

CHEM  112L General Chemistry II Laboratory (2 credits) LAB
This laboratory course accompanies Chem 112 General Chemistry II. Laboratory activities include acid-base titrations, oxidation-reduction reactions, inorganic syntheses, elementary spectrophotometry, and explorations of chemical equilibria.
