Education Department Scholarships: Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary/K-12
(Requires junior or senior status and acceptance into the Teacher Education
Program)
Scholarships will be awarded to junior or senior education students each semester.
Education Department Scholarships are funded from contributions to the Education
Scholarship Fund by SMSU faculty, alumni, and other friends of the University.
(Education Department Scholarships will be awarded without regard to race,
creed, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, reliance on public assistance,
physical ability, marital status, or inclusion in any group or class against
which discrimination is prohibited by law.)
Carr Properties Scholarships: Early Childhood, Elementary, or Secondary/K-12
(Requires junior or senior status and acceptance into the Teacher Education
Program.)
This scholarship will be awarded to an Education junior or senior each semester.
The Robert L. Carr family funds Carr Properties Scholarships. Recipients are
selected on the basis of academic performance and demonstrated leadership
ability. Financial need is not a factor. Letters of application for this scholarship
should include information relevant to these additional criteria.
Golden Rule Scholarship: Senior Elementary Education Women
(Requires senior status and acceptance into the Teacher Education Program
from the Midwest with a GPA of 3.0 or higher)
Scholarships will be awarded to elementary education senior women. Golden
Rule Scholarships are funded by an endowment from a retired elementary teacher.
This contributor has requested that the scholarships go to Senior women elementary
education majors with financial need. Therefore, letters of application
for this scholarship should include information relevant to these additional
criteria.
Keigh Hubel Rural Education Scholarship
(Requires junior or senior status and acceptance into the Teacher Education
Program.)
A scholarship will be awarded to students having potential for serving in
rural schools. Preference is given to full-time students. Financial
need is not a factor. Letters of application should include permission
to use applicant's name in publicity for Southwest Minnesota State and a statement
regarding intent to complete the SMSU Education program.
