The English Department at Southwest Minnesota State University offers majors in:

Courses in writing and literature broaden students' communication skills and general cultural and aesthetic awareness. The English Department offers a full range of American, British, and world literature courses but historically has been especially hospitable to contemporary literature and living writers. Department members continue to publish books, essays, stories, and poems regularly. The English Department also supervises the work of students participating in writing internships.
