Strategic Advancement in Learning and Teaching (SALT) Development
Team
Description
The primary task of the Strategic Advancement of Learning and Teaching Development Team is to develop a strategic plan for the Education Department and Programs based upon the Department’s vision and mission. This involves two basic strategies: External/Environmental Scanning (needs, threats/challenges, and opportunities) and Internal Scanning (strengths and weaknesses). The plan aligns with the strategic plans of the SMSU and MnSCU. The other tasks of SALT are to align the plan to the Education Department budget, suggest additional funding resources, review progress of accomplishments, and recommend revisions as deemed necessary or beneficial. The SALTDT is made up of no more than six Education Department Faculty and the Dean of Business, Education, Professional and Graduate Studies serves as the Facilitator. At least one representative of this SALTDT attends the University Strategic Planning Committee meetings. The Dean serves on the University Committee. Final decisions are made by the Education Department and based on the mission and vision of the Department and University with input from stakeholders.
